BEESTON IN CONTROL TO SEMIS

Nottinghamshire FA Senior Trophy
Quarter Final
BEESTON FC 3 BASFORD UNITED COMMUNITY FC 1
Att: 32

When the draw was made by the Notts FA, this tie caught my attention as Id not been to the Layton Crescent ground this season as I had the other 3 ties.

A long journey as my wife Hazel was away for her birthday weekend at her daughters up in Preston, so the 8.30am bus from Mansfield to Nottingham and then for some breakfast, then a stroll round the City saw me catch the tram to Beeston before getting lost in the council estate before finding a postman who guided me to the ground.

A late change of referee saw the FA appoint experienced official Lewis Quayle in charge of the tie.

The game kicked off quite even but the Community side were struggling to put their passing game together on a muddy bumpy pitch which suited the home side. On 8 minutes, Bright Agana flashed a cross shot just wide, but in the 12th minute, Beeston FC did take the lead when Agana crossed for HENRY SAINSBURY to tap home from close range.

Beeston continued to press forward and got their second goal on 27 minutes when BEN KNIGHT's shot from the right landed in to the corner of the net to give his side a two goal advantage.

Basford had their best spell of the tie int he final five minutes of the half and Davey Gallagher was Beeston;s hero when he superbly pushed a Viktor Lukusu header on to the crossbar.

The Second Half start out fairly even with few chances, but for the second time in the tie, Basford hit the bar again through Corey Jallard;s shot, but the homesters scored again in the 79th minute when sub Tom O Regan chased down visiting defender Jack O Leary who knocked the ball past his own keeper to give Beeston a three goal advantage.

To the Community sides credit their heads didnt go down and they pressed forward and in 87th minute, a pin point cross found the head  sub HARRI WEATHERALL who planted his first ever goal for Community.

Both sides and my self felt that referee Lewis Quayle had a excellent match, talking to players when needed to.

TEN STAR GREENS

Samba Nottinghamshire Senior League
Division Two
SNEINTON TOWN FC 0 KEYWORTH UNITED DEVELOPEMENT FC 10
Admission Free
Att: 40 est
When Sticky Nick Palmer took over Keyworth United Developement, they had a goal difference of minus 50 plus, over the past few months with todays result, he has turned his sides form around and they have a positive in that column on the league table and sit in eighth, meanwhile you have to worry about Sneinton Town FC who have now played 18 League matches and remain on zero points, but all credit to them, as they turn up every week.

The greens from Keyworth were soon in their stride as after just 38 seconds they were in front through OLI PEER. Keyworth kept pressing forward with chances going wide, but after 16 minutes a long ranged shot from TOM WILSON was fumbled by the home keeper in to the net to double the away sides advantage.

On 19 minutes, things got worse for Sneinton when a corner from the left hand side was floated in and a defender headed past his own keeper.  After 28 minutes and it was 4-0 to the Developement side when their captain CALLUM BARRATT hot a 35 yard volley.  After 32 minutes, a lovely through ball split the home defence for TOM SISWICK to run on to and chip the outcoming keeper.

In the 34th minute, the visitors were awarded a penalty, to which Sam Wood struck the post with the ball bouncing outwards and being cleared, but it wasnt the end of the first half scoring as TOM SISWICK in the 40th minute added his second and his clubs sixth goal of the match.

After a half time bovril, it was back to pitchside and it was Sneinton who had their best spell of the game and the Keyworth keeper was called in to action a couple of times, but after 52 minutes, Keyworth continued their rout towards the home net, when CALLUM BARRETT hit another 35 yarder shot that nestled in to the net to give his side a seven goal lead.

Sneinton changed their keeper as a outplayer went between the sticks, whilst the visitors bought on their three subs for a run out and on 75 minutes, it was one the subs STEVE CULLIS who lobbed in to the net from a acute angle. It was soon 9-0 when SAM WOOD finally got on to the scoresheet after 77 minutes.

The end of the scoring came in the 81st minute, when the Greens were awarded their second penalty of the match, to which BLAINE GREWCOCK made no mistake from the spot to score his first goal for his club at senior level.

Must say that I felt the young referee LEWIS SMITH had a very good match.

LATE DOUBLE GIVES MAGPIES THE POINTS

Central League
MANSFIELD TOWN RESERVES 1 NOTTS COUNTY RESERVES 2
Admission Free
Coffee £1
Att: 100 approx
A few years ago whilst my son Shawn attended Farmilo Primary School there were rumours that Mansfield Town FC were to build a new football facility next door on old farm land at the bottom of a cul de sac, this has now taken place and as you enter towards the end of the cul de sac, you are met with the impressive looking changing rooms block and car park at the RH Academy.

On arrival, I met Nigel Prost and then found the tea room, where there was Gotham based hopper Neil Glenn and three Notts County supporters who I joined at the table for a cuppa.

The pitch is 4g and is inside a cage with a seated stand on the half way line.

For the First Half I stood up to the left hand side as I walked in and chattered with local and professional Cameraman Dan Westwell along with Malc Storer and Steve Davis and Dan Bishop.

The game started with the Young Stags on the front foot and after 10 minutes, a mistake at the heart of the Magpies defence saw TOM FIELDING capitalise and put the Mansfield side in front.

The yellows pressed forward looking to add to their total but the County defence stood tall.

After the Half Time cuppa, I joined Teveral FC;s Keith Parnell in the stand but I soon had to stand up, as in a bit of pain with my back, so stood pitchside with Neil. County came out a differewnt side and pressed and had a couple of wayward shots, inbetween testing the home keeper.

The Stags seemed to have weathered the storm and looked on their way to the points, but on 81 minutes, County were back on level terms when SAM OSBORNE hit the back of the net.

On 87 minutes, County pressed forward and got a free kick of the left hand side, to which WILL PATCHING guided home the winner.

BINGHAM MAKE IT LUCKY 13

Samba Nottinghamshire Senior League
Premier Division
BINGHAM TOWN FC 3 EASTWOOD COMMUNITY DEVELOPEMENT FC 1
Programme
Att: 48
Not been to Butt Field this season and Bingham Town went in to this match with a good 12 match unbeaten run, whilst Eastwood Community Developement have been playing well.

The game had a lively start, with the visitors strongly shouting for a early penalty which was turned away. The first couple of chances did go to the Community side, whilst Town started to come more in to the game.

After 17 minutes, a long ball down the left hand line was collected by MICHAEL JEPPS who cut in towards the penalty area, where he drew the young keeper and chipped it over him into a empty net.

This pushed the side from Eastwood in to attack and a ball up the left wing was failed to be cleared by the Bingham defence before Community man KALLUM O'DOWD slotted home the equaliser.

The Second Half saw the homesters come out fast and furious and after just 90 seconds in to the half, they had retaken the lead, when a sweet half volley by EDWARD HODGSON nestled in to the corner of the Eastwood net.

Town continued to press forward and on 52 minutes, they extended their lead, when a pinpoint cross from the left wing, found the head of MICHAEL JEPPS who converted to make it 3-1.

On 71 minutes, Community thought they were back in the game when Dalton Stephens broke the offside trap, but a brave low save/block by 17 year old Harry Haywood kept his goal in tact.

A good match played in the right spirit and must mention all 3 officials who I felt had a very good game.

I must thank Mike Spencer who kindly donated £5 on behalf of Bingham Town FC towards the Charity Blog, which is for FORGET ME NOT, a small charity that supports people with dementia.

On bit of sad news is that Flickr are starting to charge for me putting the photos on my blog and have cancelled my account, so I have now gone back to Photobucket, so hopefully the link to the photos will work, so everyone can enjoy them.

LATE DOUBLE SECURES GREEN ARMY VICTORY

Samba Nottinghamshire Senior League
Premier Division
RADCLIFFE OLYMPIC FC 0 KEYWORTH UNITED FC 2
Admission £3/£1.50

Att: 42
Counting back the years and it appeared that the last time I visited Wharf Lane, the home of Radcliffe Olympic FC was on the 21st March 2008 when they hosted a groundhop match in front of a crowd of 329 against Dunkirk FC.

Radcliffe Olympic at present are in process of re building their team after taking relegation from the East Midlands Counties League to the Nottinghamshire Senior League, with several changes of managers, former player Chris "Rocky" Bennett has taken over the reins and bought in several new faces.

Their visitors Keyworth United came in to the match sitting in 7th position after FC Cavaliers had moved above them in beating Eastwood Community Developement on the Friday Evening.

The game kicked off and it was Olympic with the better of the chances, but they could not force the visiting keeper in to a save, on another day maybe they would have gone in to the half time break 2 to 3 nil up.

The Greens of Keyworth pressed forward in the Second Half but they found the home defence hard to break down, but after 85 minutes, a ball came through from the right side in to the feet of SCOTT LITCHFIELD who slotted the ball into the Olympic net.

Radcliffe from the kick off had to push forward with little time left and this left gaps and on 88 minutes, CAMERON GREY stroked the ball home for United to give them the points.

Felt that all 3 officials had a good match
